There’s something unforgettable about seeing Colorado for the very first time — especially when that trip becomes part of your love story forever.
Ethan and Jenna traveled from Iowa to experience the mountains, fresh air, and incredible scenery Colorado is known for. What Jenna didn’t know, though, was that this trip would become so much more than just a vacation.
It would become the start of their engagement story.
We met near Crystal Creek Reservoir on a day that felt peak Colorado in the most chaotic and beautiful way possible. The wind was absolutely wild that evening — strong enough to whip hair in every direction, send jackets flying around, and make everyone laugh every few minutes trying to keep warm and stay standing straight.
And honestly? It somehow made the entire experience even better.
Instead of everything feeling perfectly polished or overly planned, the whole evening felt real, adventurous, and completely full of energy. Ethan and Jenna embraced every second of it together. Between the wind, the mountain views, and the excitement building throughout the session, the entire atmosphere felt unforgettable from the start.
Crystal Creek Reservoir is one of those places that quietly surprises people. Tucked along Pikes Peak Highway, it offers beautiful mountain scenery, open landscapes, and peaceful views without needing to travel all the way up the highway. Even with the intense wind rolling through the area that evening, the scenery still showed off in the best way possible.
What stood out most, though, was how naturally Ethan and Jenna moved through the entire experience together.
They laughed through the wind gusts, stayed wrapped up close together between photos, and took in the mountain views like they couldn’t believe this was their first time seeing Colorado in person. You could feel how excited they were simply to be there together.
Meanwhile, Ethan was also carrying the nerves and anticipation of knowing he was about to ask one of the biggest questions of his life.
And then came the big moment.
With the mountains surrounding them and the reservoir behind them, Ethan got down on one knee and asked Jenna to marry him.
The shock, the laughter, the happy tears, the giant smile that wouldn’t leave Jenna’s face afterward — those are the moments that always make proposal sessions feel so meaningful to document. Everything else faded away for a second except the two of them standing there together in the middle of a windy Colorado evening, completely wrapped up in the excitement of what had just happened.
After she said yes, the rest of the session felt even more relaxed and joyful. They soaked everything in together — celebrating, laughing through the wind, and fully embracing the fact that they had just gotten engaged during their very first trip to Colorado.
Some sessions are calm and quiet. Others feel adventurous and a little unpredictable. Ethan and Jenna’s proposal felt full of life from beginning to end, and the wild Colorado wind somehow made every moment feel even more memorable.
As the evening light softened across the mountains, we finished the session with some of my favorite images — windswept hair, huge smiles, cozy moments together, and that unmistakable just-engaged energy that you can’t fake.
Ethan and Jenna, thank you for trusting me to capture such an important chapter of your story. Watching the two of you experience Colorado together for the first time while also stepping into a brand new season of life was something truly special to witness.
For couples dreaming about a Colorado proposal, moments like this are exactly why these mountain locations feel so magical. Sometimes things don’t go perfectly — sometimes it’s freezing, windy, and chaotic — but those real moments often end up becoming the memories you hold onto the most.
