Colorado Springs has so many amazing and versatile options for your outdoor photography session. From mountainous landscapes to ponderosa pine forests to towering rock formations... there is truly something for everyone. After years of photographing couples in the Colorado Springs area, I have compiled a list of my top picks for your next adventurous couples photo shoot.

1. GARDEN OF THE GODS

Colorado Springs' most iconic destination, Garden of the Gods is the perfect location for your adventure session. Explore the red rock formations, miles of paved and unpaved trails, and spectacular views of Pikes Peak and the front range. The options within this park are endless.

2. RED ROCK CANYON OPEN SPACE PARK

Red Rock Canyon open space park tends to be much less crowded than Garden of the gods, but it has very similar scenery. There are red rocks, mountain views, and miles of hiking trails throughout the park. There is also a small pond, an off-leash dog area, and a picnic pavilion here.

3. NORTH CHEYENNE CANON PARK

North Cheyenne Canon Park is a beautiful 1,600-acre park located on the southwest side of Colorado Springs. The road through the park takes you from the entrance of the canyon up to Helen Hunt Falls and continues until it reaches Gold Camp Road. I have a few spots throughout the park that I love to bring my clients for their photos. The first is a creekside trail near a cascading waterfall. The next is a dirt trail with a mountain backdrop. And finally, a spot along a 4x4 road near an abandoned railroad tunnel.

4. PIKES PEAK HIGHWAY

Who doesn't want their photos taken on America's Mountain? There are so many great pull offs along the way up this 14,000 foot mountain that will guarantee a stunning background in your photos. FYI there is a toll fee upon entry, and although we most likely won't go to the summit for our session, you can totally continue on once we are finished with your session. I recommend driving to the top and enjoying one of the world famous high-altitude donuts that are baked fresh every day.

5. PAINT MINES INTERPRETIVE PARK

Located about 40 minutes or so outside of Colorado Springs on the eastern plains is one of the world's most unique geographical wonders. Paint Mines Interpretive Park consists of four miles of trails, covering 750 acres containing grassland and geological formations of hoodoos, colored clay and sandstone-capped spires. The rocky terrain of the park is covered with warm hues of color that beautifully reflect sunlight, making it a truly magical setting for your adventurous photo session.

I hope this is helpful as you decide on the perfect location for your next photo shoot. This list scratches the surface of what is available in the Colorado Springs area and beyond. I detail many more of my favorites in a fully-comprehensive session prep guide, exclusive for booked clients.
