When I first met Denise and Miguel, I could immediately sense the depth of their connection—not just the love between them, but the comfort and history they share. Their engagement session felt more like hanging out with old friends than a photo shoot, especially with their sweet pup Bailey tagging along (who, by the way, loved the camera).
We met at North Cheyenne Cañon Park—one of their favorite places and a meaningful one at that. It was the same trail where Miguel got down on one knee and asked Denise to marry him. Returning to that spot for their engagement session felt like a beautiful full-circle moment. The golden light, the rustle of the trees, and the sound of Bailey’s paws padding along the trail set the perfect backdrop.
Denise and Miguel’s story started over 13 years ago when they met while working at the San Diego Zoo. They were best friends first, the kind of friendship that runs deep and honest. Life took them in different directions when Miguel joined the military and they lost touch—but as fate would have it, they reconnected in 2018. Since then, they’ve been inseparable, building a life full of love, laughter, and adventure. Now, after 6.5 years together, they’re getting ready to say “I do.”
Their weekends typically involve hiking through this very canyon and spending time with Bailey. So of course, it only made sense to document this season of their lives in a place that holds so much meaning. From the quiet smiles to the playful moments with their dog, this session felt so authentically them.
Denise and Miguel, thank you for trusting me to capture your love story. Your energy is effortless, your bond is inspiring, and I’m so excited for what’s ahead for you both. Here’s to many more adventurous hikes and dog snuggles for years to come.
