Some weddings aren't about the big production—they're about creating a day that feels completely true to you.
That was exactly the case for Emily and Elija.
After meeting at the University of New England in 2017, Emily and Elija built a relationship around adventure. Whether they're hiking, traveling, spending time with family and friends, or hanging out with their two cats, Brutus and Caesar, they've always valued experiences over extravagance. So when it came time to plan their wedding, an intimate ceremony surrounded by their favorite people felt like the perfect fit.
They chose Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs for its incredible red rock formations, mountain views, and unforgettable sunset light. With their closest family gathered around them, they exchanged vows as the sun dipped behind the peaks, creating one of those Colorado evenings you never forget.
After the ceremony, we explored another section of the park together for portraits, taking advantage of the dramatic sandstone cliffs and golden light that make Garden of the Gods one of the most beautiful places to get married in Colorado. We also slowed down to photograph the meaningful details—their rings, personal keepsakes, and all of the little moments that helped tell the full story of their day.
One of my favorite things about photographing Garden of the Gods elopements is how relaxed they feel. Without the pressure of a packed wedding timeline, couples can truly be present with each other and soak in every moment. Those quiet, authentic interactions almost always become the most meaningful photographs.
If you're dreaming of a wedding that's adventurous, intimate, and surrounded by some of Colorado's most iconic scenery, Garden of the Gods is hard to beat. Between the towering red rock formations, stunning views of Pikes Peak, and incredible sunsets, it's the perfect backdrop for couples who want their wedding day to feel both beautiful and personal.
Planning your own Garden of the Gods elopement or intimate wedding in Colorado Springs? I'd love to help you create an experience that's relaxed, intentional, and focused on what matters most—your story.
