Garden of the gods is truly one of my favorite locations to shoot at in Colorado Springs because of its versatility. This park has so much to offer! If you are new to the area or just not sure where exactly you want to have your photos taken in the park, I've put together this list of my top 5 favorite spots to help you choose. If you would like to see more from any of these sessions, I'm happy to send the link to the full gallery.
As always, let me know if you have any questions!
1. Gateway Trail/ Front Area
Parking at the first lot when you enter the park off the main road, we will meet here and cross the street to Gateway trail. There is a paved trail here, a beautiful bridge, and some great views of the park.
2. High Point Overlook
This is one of the most popular spots in the park, and for good reason. You will climb on some red rocks and overlook most of the park, Pikes Peak, and the Front Range mountains.
3. South Garden
From this parking lot, we will walk down some stairs to an open valley with tall grass and towering rocks behind you. This is one of my favorite spots because it is usually the least crowded, and I love the tall grass and mix of the red and white rock formations in the background.
4. Siamese Twins
This is a short 0.5 mile hike with a small inline that leads up to some beautiful views and rock formations. There is even a perfect little spot where you can see the mountains through the Twins formation.
5. Behind Balanced Rock
Behind the more well-known and popular "Balanced Rock" is a road where we will explore a more private area of rock formations. Be prepared to climb up some rocks and get some epic mountain views here as well!
Honorable Mention: Mesa Overlook
Although it's not technically in the park, this scenic overlook across the road has one of the best views of the entire park. With rocks, mountains, and Pikes Peak in the background, you will be sure to get some epic photos here. There is not much shade, but it's perfect for a sunrise or sunset session.
