I had the pleasure of meeting Jessica and James last year for their engagement photo shoot. These two live in a small town in Texas where James works as a farmer and Jessica is a teacher. They met in 2015 at a music festival and describe each other as their best friend. With their similar personalities and sense of humors, they have such a special and obvious connection.

When we started planning their elopement, they weren't sure of many details but they knew they wanted something intimate and personal for their day. We narrowed down the location to the beautiful town of Woodland Park, just outside Colorado Springs. After some deliberation, they decided Manitou Lake Park would be the perfect place for their intimate ceremony. Jessica also requested some portraits at Garden of the gods since she had seen many of my photos there and thought it looked like a beautiful and unique location.

On the Saturday of their elopement, we met at the parking lot of Manitou Lake. Jessica and James shared a private first look where they shared personal vows with each other. Afterwards, their closest friends and family gathered under a wooden pavilion to witness their ceremony which was officiated by Jessica's best friend. After they sealed the deal with their first kiss, they took group portraits and said their goodbyes before we set off on our adventure.

We hiked the trail around the lake, stopping along the way for photos. These two were absolutely glowing with that newlywed excitement. Jessica was pregnant, which made the occasion that much more exciting. After fueling up on some McDonalds, these two were ready for part two of their elopement experience. We met back up at Garden of the gods where we explored two different areas of the park. They popped a little champagne and took some time to celebrate and bask in the moment before rejoining their friends and family at a nearby restaurant.

This elopement was so special to be a part of. Jessica and James, thanks again for choosing me to capture your day!
