Some sessions are about milestones, and others are about togetherness — the kind that feels especially meaningful after time apart. Ander and Kirsten’s session in Woodland Park, Colorado was exactly that. A quiet celebration of love, reconnection, and the season of life they’re in right now.
Ander is in the Army, and with an upcoming move on the horizon, time together has felt extra precious. After being apart for longer than either of them would have liked, Ander surprised Kirsten by booking a photo session — a way to pause, reconnect, and capture this chapter before everything changes again.
On the day of their session, we met in Woodland Park surrounded by open space, mountain air, and that calm that only Colorado seems to offer. Their two-year-old black lab, Hatcher, joined along and instantly made it even more special. He stayed close, soaked up the attention, and reminded us all that love shows up in many forms — sometimes with four legs and a wagging tail.
What stood out most during this session was how natural everything felt. No rushing, no forcing moments — just the three of them spending time together. The way Ander and Kirsten laughed, the quiet moments in between, and the ease they share spoke volumes about their connection. This wasn’t about perfectly posed photos; it was about documenting what real life looks like when you finally get your person back.
Sessions like this are some of my favorites — the ones rooted in meaning, emotion, and real life. Ander and Kirsten, thank you for trusting me to capture this moment before the next chapter begins. I’m so excited for everything ahead for you both.
